About Paved With Good Intentions

Life is looking good for Travis Balden, yuppie financial analyst at R.A. Management. But suspicion of a stock sale based on insider information sparks a chain of events that change everything. Forced to switch focus from promises to his wife to problems at the office, Travis is unable to juggle the issues evolving at work. He pays the ultimate price for his failures, committing a murder/suicide after his wife leaves him; by his estimation, a direct result of getting too involved at work.

Upon Travis’s death, his estranged brother, Rick, a repo man, comes to town to check on their sister, Nina. Old resentments flare up when his father makes it plain he’d rather have buried Rick instead of Travis. Determined to prove that Travis was always a jerk and that his father always favored the wrong son, Rick is drawn ever-deeper into an investigation of the events surrounding Travis’s death. Along the way, he uncovers some unexpected revelations about his own past.

As the stories interweave in parallel timelines colliding at the truth, Rick must ultimately question what is more important; proving his father wrong or finding the truth about Travis, thus discovering how Travis’s truth effects his own.
