The youngest of three children, Jay Acovone is a native of Lake Mahopac, New York. His family made roots there while owning and operating a dry cleaning business his grandfather started long ago. Immediately after graduating from Mahopac High, Jay began exploring career options. His life changed one day while pumping gas after a friend suggested that he try out for a role in "Mr. Roberts". Much to his surprise, he landed the role and by opening night a career in acting had begun.

 

With the blessings of his family, he headed to New York and studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute. Jay later graced daytime television for two years in "As The World Turns" and spent two more years on "Search For Tomorrow."

 

Among his film and television credits are: “24”, “Stargate SG-1”, “Collateral Damage”, “The X-Files”, “NYPD Blue”, “Cast Away”, “Independence Day” and “Murder She Wrote among countless others.

 

He now lives in the Los Angeles area and enjoys boxing, swimming, and snow skiing for which he holds an instructors license and many awards. Jay is also a motorcycle and race car enthusiast.
